Thanks for the fav! :)

(I can't say for sure if it is a female Snowy. It might be an immature male.)

Stunning photo! Snowy owls are such beautiful birds, one of my favourites. I still have yet to see one in the wild, they can be so hard to find!

Thank you! I don't know whereabouts in Canada you live, but in Ontario this has been a banner year for Snowies. If you follow bird reports like Ontbirds, you can discover where they have been seen. Many will stay in the same location as long as the food supply lasts. The one in this picture was reliable for more than a month.

Tee hee seeing a snowy owl with red eyes is 1 in 12 million and with the starwberry ,marking even a sweeter treat! for most albino snowies have no markings!

Lovely-owly  Woohooooo!
And just one question to add - are you 'hunting' for the animals for hours (I mean to take pictures of course) or it's just a random walk-out and all the marvels of nature appears in front of you by pure accident?

Thank you! :) In the case of this Snowy, I knew exactly where it had been spotted so I went to that exact location. I am also familiar with the best places to find birds in this area, so my odds of finding something to shoot are better than average.

Then I'm all jealous about the all-arounds of your place of living!
Picture is great, I absolutely adore the pattern on her wings - as if someone painted it with acrylics and coal.

I hope you do get to see one. They get down into Wisconsin, and South Dakota. That may be north of you, but maybe you can visit during the winter sometime.

There has been a really big irruption this year. all over the lower 48 They have seen a record of them this year and some sightings along the coast near me, but I don't always get the chance to go investigate sightings since the places near me where they have turned up are still a distance and the weather has just been cold and icy.

They are not easy to find. You need a bit of luck. Your best bet is to check your local birding reports for any recent sightings.
Owls are amazing! :)
